Alien Film Aeronega - 120 Colour Negative Film

Alien Film Aeronega 100 - 120 Colour Negative Film

Kodak aerial surveillance film, liberated from high-altitude reconnaissance for your ground-level photography. Alien Film Aeronega 100 is respooled Kodak Aerocolor IV—originally designed for photographing things from thousands of feet up during reconnaissance missions. Now repackaged by Alien Film Lab, this ISO 100 colour negative film has been freed from military aerial work and made available for still photography. Developed in standard C-41 chemistry, it delivers fine grain, punchy reds, lush greens, strong contrast, and a slightly cool-toned colour palette that sits somewhere between Kodak Portra (less saturated) and Kodak Ektar (longer contrast curve). Expect occasional colour shifts and roll-to-roll variation—this is respooled film with character, not factory-fresh consistency.

What Makes Alien Film Aeronega Interesting

ISO 100 - Medium speed designed for bright daylight shooting. This film was made to photograph terrain from aircraft, so it's happiest when there's plenty of light to work with.

Respooled Kodak Aerocolor IV - Originally created for high-altitude aerial reconnaissance and still used professionally for that purpose. Now available for considerably less strategic applications like street photography and experimental portraits.

C-41 Processing - Standard colour negative chemistry. Despite its exotic origins, it develops normally at any lab that does colour film.

Punchy Reds & Lush Greens - Colour saturation that's more vibrant than Portra but less aggressive than Ektar. Strong, saturated colours without looking artificial.

Fine Grain & High Sharpness - Extremely fine grain with tremendous resolving power. This film was designed to capture detail from altitude, so it handles ground-level detail brilliantly.

Broad Exposure Latitude - Forgiving exposure range that tolerates slight over or underexposure. Useful when you're experimenting or conditions aren't ideal.

Slightly Cool-Toned Palette - Leans away from warm nostalgic vibes and toward a cooler, slightly archival aesthetic that makes images feel mysteriously cinematic.

Roll-to-Roll Variation - Expect slight differences between rolls and batches. This is respooled film, sometimes into recycled canisters, and may be susceptible to slight light leaks. Part of the charm, not a defect.

Clear Base - No orange mask like typical colour negative film, which affects scanning and printing but contributes to the unique look.

Best For

Street photography, documentary work, experimental portraits, urban landscapes, anything requiring fine detail and saturated colour, and photographers who appreciate film with history and character over perfect consistency.

Perfect for: making ordinary scenes look cinematic, shooting film that was designed for completely different purposes, and explaining to people that yes, this is surveillance film, and no, you're not a spy.

Perfect for photographers who want something different from standard consumer colour film. Aeronega proves that military-grade optics work just as well for documenting your weekend as they do for reconnaissance missions.
