A New Address, and a Choice About Your Negatives
Two things about posting film to us have changed, and both are worth reading before you next lick an envelope.
We have moved to a new physical shop, and we have added a shipping option that some of you asked for. Neither changes anything about how your film is developed. Both change what you post to us and what you get back, so here they are...
We Have a New Address
The old PO Box is retired. But any orders still in flight to that address will be delivered. From now on, post your film to us here:
Chemical Dependency Lab
19D Stour Street
Manningtree
CO11 1DH
The old address, PO Box 13648, Manningtree, CO11 9BL, should no longer be used. Every product page and the FAQs already show the new address. If you sent something to the old address in the last few days it should still make it to us without issue. If you're concerned about a particular order, email hello@chemicaldependency.co.uk and we will keep an eye out for it.
Negatives Are Now Optional
Until now, every developed roll came back to you in the post, sleeved and safe, whether you wanted it or not. We still think that is the right default. A negative is the actual photograph, and the scan is just its best impression so far. But a fair number of you have written in over the past few months asking for a way to skip the return, we've listened to the feedback and have built a new mechanism to serve this use case.
Checkout for developing and scanning now offers three shipping options.
Dispose of negatives (no return) means we dispose of your negatives once your scans are done. Nothing comes back.
Ship negatives with prints or film order means we will ship your negatives back with film you order at the same time as your dev, or hold them and include them with prints if you intend to order prints of your scans.
£3.50 return shipping means your negatives come home at a new lower price than before, sleeved and posted back to you.
Choose carefully. If you choose disposal, we cannot go back for the negatives afterwards, no matter how much you regret it three days later. If you are even slightly unsure, spend the £3.50. You can always throw a negative away later. You cannot un-throw one.
That is the whole update: new street, same postcode area, and a choice we would rather you did not have to make but are glad to offer. Anything unclear, our FAQs have more detail, or email us.
