Kono Smile Color 200 - 35mm Colour Negative Film
A brand new German colour film. In 2025. Yes, really. New emulsions don't come along often. Kono Smile Color 200 is one of the few genuinely new colour films to arrive in years, and it comes with a proper backstory. An ISO 200 colour negative film developed by KONO Manufaktur's partner in Germany, based on the ORWO Wolfen NC200 emulsion manufactured by InovisCoat GmbH — the modern successor to the historic ORWO film factory in Wolfen. KONO spools and packages it themselves using machinery they designed and built in-house, making this one of the very few genuinely independent colour film operations in the world. When we have stock, it ships fast from the UK.
What Makes Kono Smile Color 200 Worth Shooting
ISO 200 - Medium speed for daylight and general shooting. Versatile enough for most conditions with good light.
ORWO Wolfen NC200 Emulsion - A genuinely new emulsion from a historically significant factory. This isn't repackaged existing stock — it's new chemistry.
Independently Made - KONO spool their own film on custom-built machinery. One of the few truly independent colour film operations in existence.
C-41 Processing - Standard colour chemistry. Develops anywhere, including here.
36 Exposures - A full roll of genuinely new colour film.
Best For
Photographers who want to support independent film manufacturing, those curious about ORWO emulsions, and anyone who wants to shoot something genuinely new rather than the usual rotation. Once you've shot it, send it our way — we develop and scan it too.
Perfect for photographers who care where their film comes from and want to support the people still making it from scratch.
