Fomapan Action 400 - 35mm Black & White Film

Fast, flexible, and built for chaos. Action by name, action by capability. Fomapan Action 400 is a panchromatic black and white negative film designed for unfavourable light conditions, fast-moving subjects, and situations where you need speed without sacrificing quality. Rated at ISO 400 but capable of delivering great results anywhere from ISO 200 to 1600 (and reportedly up to 3200 if you're feeling brave), this film features good resolution, low granularity, and the kind of exposure latitude that lets you shoot first and worry about technical perfection never.

What Makes Fomapan Action Good

ISO 400 (Nominal) - Fast enough for handheld shooting in low light, indoor conditions, and capturing movement without blur. The speed you need when things are happening quickly.

Extreme Exposure Latitude - Overexpose by 1 stop (shoot at ISO 200) or underexpose by 2 stops (shoot at ISO 1600) without changing development. Push it further to 3200 if the situation demands and you're not precious about grain. This film adapts to you, not the other way around.

Good Resolution - Despite the speed, you still get solid detail and sharpness. Fast film doesn't have to mean fuzzy film.

Low Granularity - Remarkably fine grain for a 400-speed black and white film. Keeps images clean even when you're pushing the limits.

Good Contour Sharpness - Edges stay defined, subjects stay clear. Whether you're shooting sports, street, or low-light events, your images won't look soft or muddy.

Built for Unfavourable Light - This is the film you load when conditions aren't ideal and you still need to get the shot. Overcast days, indoor venues, dusk, dawn—Fomapan Action handles it.

Affordable - High-speed film at a price that lets you actually use it liberally instead of saving it for "special occasions."

Best For

Sports photography, fast-moving subjects, low-light situations, street photography at night, indoor events without flash, gigs and concerts, documentary work, and any scenario where you need speed, flexibility, and reliable performance without drama.

Perfect for photographers who need to capture action and can't afford to miss the shot because their film wasn't fast enough. Sometimes life moves quickly—your film should too.
