Fujifilm 200 & 400 - 35mm Colour Negative Film Bundle

Fujifilm's two current consumer colour films, one roll of each.

Both now made in the USA, and both a departure from the Superia films they replaced.

The Fujifilm 200 & 400 35mm Film Bundle contains one roll each of Fujifilm 200 and Fujifilm 400, the consumer colour negative films Fujifilm introduced in 2023 to replace its Superia films. Both are daylight balanced, 36 exposures, made in the USA, and processed in standard C-41.

What Makes the Fujifilm 200 & 400 Bundle Habit-Forming

The Superia Replacements

When Fujifilm wound down Superia, it replaced the range with these two films. Both boxes say made in the USA rather than Japan, and Fujifilm 400 is recorded as contract manufactured by Kodak.

Fujifilm 200

The daylight film of the pair, for bright days, holidays and flash. It renders warmer than the Superia 200 it replaced. Full details on the Fujifilm 200 page.

Fujifilm 400

The everyday film for grey days, interiors and moving subjects. It is often assumed to be close to Kodak UltraMax 400, though independent side by side tests have found differences in contrast and colour. Full details on the Fujifilm 400 page.

Not the Old Fuji Palette

Anyone buying these for the look of Superia should adjust their expectations. Neither is a straight continuation of the films it replaced, and both are best judged on their own negatives.

A Stop Apart

The 200 for daylight and flash, the 400 for overcast days, interiors and anything that moves. One roll of each covers most of what a week of ordinary British weather will throw at you.

Processed Together

Both are standard C-41, so they can go through the same run and be scanned on the same settings.

Are Fujifilm 200 and 400 made in Japan?

No. Both are made in the USA, as their boxes state, unlike the Superia films they replaced. Fujifilm 400 is recorded as contract manufactured by Kodak, and Fujifilm has not publicly named the maker of Fujifilm 200. Fujifilm still makes other film products, including slide and instant film.

Fujifilm 200 or Fujifilm 400?

Fujifilm 200 if you mostly shoot in good daylight or with flash. Fujifilm 400 if you shoot on grey days, indoors or in a compact camera that cannot open its lens very wide. For British weather, the 400 is the safer default, which is why buying one of each makes sense.

Best For Everyday colour in mixed light, travel, family photographs and point and shoot cameras, and anyone who wants a daylight roll and a faster roll in the same order. Once you have shot them, send them our way. We develop, scan and print C-41 in house.

Perfect for: Superia shooters working out what comes next, point and shoot owners, anyone who needs two speeds without thinking hard about it, and anyone whose dependency no longer relies on brand loyalty.

Fujifilm's consumer colour negative films are no longer the Japanese emulsions many people grew up with, and it is worth knowing that before buying either. Taken on their own terms, though, they are two sound everyday films a stop apart, which is exactly what most people need in the camera bag. More Fujifilm film, posted from North Essex.
